"Cat's Head" Tower
Address: Podmurna Street, Torun, Poland (near Polonia Hotel)
The corner tower was built in the 16th century on the site of an eariler tower It's round shape enabled the artilery to fire from the nortern and eastern sections of the city walls. The basement of the tower was used as the prison dungeon. It was blown up by the Swedes during the siege of 1703, but rebuild in the first half of 18th century and made one storey higher at the beginning of the 20th century.
In addition to the "Cat's Head" tower there were other towers in Torun with names like "Cat's tail", "Cat's Paw", and a barbican called "Cat's Belly".
